31 Reasons To Love January – #21

Limoncello is like sunshine in a glass- the perfect antidote to the current cold dark days of winter. It is a traditional homemade south Italian lemon-flavoured liqueur which Italians love to drink after pizza or fish. It is also perfect to drink with friends in the evening and chat the night away.

It is made from just four ingredients: water, vodka, sugar and lemon zest. It is becoming an increasingly popular ingredient in cocktails, as it imparts a strong lemon flavor without the sourness or bitterness of lemon juice.

It is traditionally served chilled as an after-dinner digestif but is also great served cold over ice, mixed with fresh lemonade, iced tea or tonic, or even drizzled over sorbet or ice cream.

So while you are fantasising about the summer that seems so far away right now, take a sip of Limoncello, close your eyes and imagine you are relaxing in the sunshine in Naples…bliss!
