Trout. Our Forgotten Friend.
The days are getting longer and the sun is shining a bit more often. Some of us may be waking up, with the morning sun right in our eyes, and realising that (terrifyingly) in just a few weeks it’ll be time to ditch the jeans and trade in for something shorter.
We can no longer postpone that jog around the park because now it is, unfortunately, warm enough. But before any of us start a crazy crash diet and military exercise regimen, we may have a suggestion that simply involves trying our new dish.
It’s common knowledge that oily fish are rich in Omega-3 and essential for a successful diet. But with salmon and tuna constantly hogging the spotlight, our friend the trout is often left in the dark. We’ve just created a Smoked Trout Salad to give credit where credit is due.
Flaked smoked trout served on cannellini beans with tomatoes, green beans, mixed leaves and chunky croutons, cooked in our very own open-flame ovens. And it’s a dish that won’t make you feel guilty if you clear the plate… as part of our new healthier options range you could just go ahead and order that large Sauvignon Blanc.
If you’re still not convinced… let us fill you in on some little known facts about trout.
1. It’s packed with protein. 19 grams in fact. This actually lets you burn fat while digesting… we’re pretty sure that counts as a visit to the gym.
2. The fatty acids provide countless heart benefits like preventing arterial clogging, which can stave off any nasty heart complications later in life.
3. Trout’s also been linked to aiding the reduction of bad cholesterol and blood pressure.
If we’ve peaked your interest, drop by Zizzi the next time you’re out and come try one of our latest creations. We don’t want to get ahead of ourselves here, but… salmon is so last season.
