31 Reasons To Love January – #6


You’ve nearly made it through the first working week of January! Give yourself a pat on the back. If you’re like us and detoxing after the epic effects of Christmas, make sure you add the almighty asparagus to your diet.

You may already know that eating asparagus can make your pee smell funny, but it actually has many redeeming qualities. It’s a nutrient-dense food which is a good source of potassium, fibre, vitamin B6, vitamins A and C and several others. Now, let’s break that down –

–         Potassium is great for detoxing and is known for reducing belly fat. Which is a massive plus for those of us with a beer belly…or wine belly…or cider belly.

 –         Fibre, as you may or may not already know, is essential to keeping the body running smoothly and let’s leave it at that.

 –         Asparagus is high in folate which is believed to be an important protection against cancer. Delicious and cancer fighting? It can’t get any better.

If these don’t have you convinced, perhaps asparagus’s romantic qualities are more your style. The spears are said to be an aphrodisiac, so next time you’re on a date why don’t you order our Insalate Bietole and share a spear or two.

This January, add a little green in to your diet. If you’re unsure about the quality of your asparagus ask any farmer and he’ll tell you the bigger the girth, the better the quality!
