RECIPERUSTICA PICCANTE PIZZA
Turn up the heat with our Rustica Piccante pizza recipe - a bold, flavour-packed Italian favourite loaded with spicy meats and creamy mascarpone.

INGREDIENTS
Ingredients for Rustica Piccante Pizza (Serves 1–2):
For the dough:
- 125g flour
- 3g salt
- 2g yeast
- 75ml water
- Semolina (for dusting)
For the base:
- 60g pizza sauce
- 170g mozzarella
- 1 tsp dried chilli
- Roquito chilli slices
- 10 slices pepperoni
- 1 field mushroom, sliced
- Spicy ‘nduja sausage
- Spianata piccante salami
- 2 tbsp mascarpone
- 1 tbsp Belazu Rose Harissa Paste
- Fresh rocket leaves, to garnish
METHOD
How to Make Rustica Piccante Pizza:
- Make the dough
- In a large bowl, add the flour, salt, and yeast (keep the salt and yeast separate initially). Add the water and bring together into a dough ball. Adjust with a little extra flour or water if needed until smooth and elastic.
- Prove the dough
- Leave the dough in a warm place until it doubles in size.
- Shape the base
- Lightly flour your surface, then shape the dough into a smooth ball before rolling it out into a thin pizza base. Dust with semolina for an extra crispy texture.
- Add the toppings
- Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the base. Add the mozzarella, followed by the pepperoni, ‘nduja, spianata salami, mushrooms, and roquito chillies. Sprinkle over the dried chilli for an extra kick.
- Bake the pizza
- Cook at the highest temperature your oven allows for 10–12 minutes, until the base is crisp and the cheese is melted and bubbling.
- Finish and serve
- Remove from the oven and top with dollops of mascarpone, a drizzle of rose harissa, and a handful of fresh rocket. Slice and serve your homemade Rustica Piccante pizza.
